Abstract Guidelines

General Guidelines

  • Each candidate should present only one scientific presentation (either poster/paper/video presentation /table clinic)
  • Abstract should be original and should not be published or presented anywhere in the past.
  • Abstracts not following submission guidelines and received after the deadline will not be considered.
  • Abstract submission for poster(narrative review), table clinic and video presentation should be in unstructured format with maximum of 250 words(excluding title)
  • Abstract needs to be submitted in the format of the template provided.
  • The paper should be categorised under either of the following title – Original Research, Systematic Review and Meta Analysis, Case Report.
  • Each session will have a Best Presentation Award.
  • After the abstract submission, an e-mail will be sent confirming your submission.
  • The delegate needs to mention the category in the abstract according to the categories mentioned on the website.
  • A separate e-mail will be sent confirming acceptance of the scientific presentation. If not received, please contact: scientificconvene@gmail.com
  • Submission file should be renamed using the following format:
    Registration Number
    Category
    Type [Original Research (OR), Systematic Review and Meta Analysis (SM), Case Reports (CR)]
  • If a postgraduate student, the abstract form must be countersigned by the Head of the Department / Guide.

Abstract Formatting and Submission Guidelines for Poster and Paper Presentations

Abstract Title
  • Title of presentation in Arial / Times New Roman font: Size 14 point.
  • Each word should begin with a capital letter except transition words.
  • Title should not be longer than 20 words.
Abstract Body
  • For body of abstract use Times New Roman / Arial font size 12 point.
  • Paragraphs should be justified on both left and right.
  • Use single-line spacing.

Structured Abstract for Original Research

  • Background / Purpose
  • Objective
  • Methods: Methods, Materials and Analytical Procedure
  • Results: Summary of results in sufficient detail
  • Conclusion
  • The total number of words for abstract – 250 words (excluding title and section headings).

Structured Abstract for Case Reports / Case Series

  • Introduction: Background of the disease or condition
  • Clinical Case: Clinical Findings, Diagnostic Evaluation, Treatment and Follow-Up
  • Conclusion: Conclusion and Clinical Implications
  • The total number of words for abstract – 250 words (excluding title and section headings).

Structured Abstract for Systematic Reviews / Meta-Analysis

  • Aim: Introduction for research question
  • Methods: Search strategy, inclusion/exclusion criteria, data collection, analysis and synthesis
  • Results: Findings clearly presented; include statistical analysis
  • Images, tables and visual data cannot be submitted
  • Conclusion
  • References
  • The total number of words for abstract – 250

Poster Presentation Guidelines

  • Only postgraduate students from I MDS are allowed for presentation.
  • Maximum two postgraduate students can participate for each poster.
  • E-poster must be in landscape format (16:9 / 4:3) PPT/PDF.
  • File size: 12–16 MB with minimal background graphics.
  • Minimum font size: 22 (Times New Roman or equivalent).
  • Poster should be readable from 1.5–2 meters.
  • Maximum time: 2 + 1 = 3 minutes.
  • Presenter identity/affiliation should not be displayed.
  • Convention registration number must be in the upper right corner.
  • Strict adherence to time limits to avoid negative marking.

Scientific Paper Presentation Guidelines

  • Only one postgraduate student allowed per paper presentation.
  • MS PowerPoint format (2003/2007), maximum size 10 MB.
  • Minimal audio and video animations.
  • PPT must follow the provided template.
  • Use single-line spacing; minimal text and maximum illustrations.
  • Maximum time: 6 + 2 = 8 minutes.
  • Presenter identity/affiliation should not be displayed.
  • Convention registration number on title slide (upper right corner).
  • Strict adherence to time limits.

Table Clinic Presentation Guidelines

  • 1–2 presenters allowed and both must be present.
  • Only postgraduate students of all years are eligible.
  • Time limit: 3 + 2 = 5 minutes.
  • Convention registration number in top left corner.
  • Presenter/college identity must not be revealed.

Note: Presenter must complete table clinic assembly one hour before presentation.

Video Presentation Guidelines

  • Video must include narration explaining the concept.
  • Text and narration should be in English.
  • Only postgraduate students are eligible.
  • Time limit: 5 minutes.
  • Convention registration number in top left corner.
  • Presenter/college identity must not be revealed.
  • Recording device: Mobile, Digital Camera, Handy Cam.
  • Upload format: MP4
